Improvements!!! Both in mechanical and electronic!!!

It has been a long time that we haven’t made any noice here in our blog. March is coming today, just have two monthes for us to prepare for our Kickstarter rewards. To tell the good news, we have moved to a new place now, which is near a big electronic market (Deep Shajing Elec. City).

We also purchase a new laser cutter machine at the same time.

So the development and improvement of uArm will be faster.

In the past few weeks, we have made some mechanical and electronic improvements to the uArm. Here is our latest mechanical prototype.

Details of the improvements:

Mechanical Parts:

1. We changed one fore arm servo lever to two on the left shoulder to make the arm more stable.

2. We replaced the plastic spacers with brass stand-offs to make the arm stronger.

3. We redesigned the gripper to make it more flexible.

Electronic Parts:

1. In order to optimize Power supply scheme, we combined the Arduino board and the uArm Shield to one uArm Board.

In the new uArm Board, we have added the interface for learning function and have a button for switching mode between learning mode and normal mode on board.

2. We also made a small control board for pump and valve.

So you can easily use the pump and valve in other project.

Under Developing Parts:

1. The Bluetooth modules, a pair of Bluetooth + a USB to TTL converter, is under testing. We plan to order two choices of the Bluetooth modules, one is the Bluetooth 2.0 and the other is the Bluetooth 4.0. We will make an add-on choice if the modules can work well. It won’t take a long time.

2. The customized servos for learning function are also under testing. We will try our best to make this come true. We will post an update about this if we have any new progress.

    我们想买个机械臂来锣碳纤维产品不知道可不可以?
    1.可以直接连电脑用软件控制吗?
    2.精度可以达到多少?
    3.转速可以到多少?
    4.可以做5轴吗?

      精度可以达到多少?Do you have a video to demonstrate it flexibility (both grabber, and arm)?
      可以直接连电脑用软件控制吗?Possible to coordinate two arms by c++?
      whats the lifting load limit (both grabber, and arm)? how well does the arm able to resist repelling force?

    Great kit – enjoyed putting this together – instructions were well done, acrylic parts popped out easily and have nice smooth edges, etc. Well done sirs!
